Even Readers Are Mixed on Edmonds’ Decision

It’s not Jim Edmonds’ self-sacrifice at the plate, in the field, or on the basepaths that I question. These have always been exemplary. It was his admitted reluctance to sacrifice some of the time spent jet-skiing during the off-season as opposed to submitting to an operation that would have readied him for the ’99 season that has his fans and teammates wondering where his priorities were.
