Masters Record Set at UC Irvine

Two stadium records and a masters world record were set at the Steve Scott Invitational track and field meet Sunday at UC Irvine.

Scott, a former three-time Olympian and UC Irvine All-American, teamed with Thom Hunt, Bill Randall and John Konigh to win the 4x1,500-meter relay in 16 minutes 59.10 seconds, breaking the previous masters world record of 17:21.0 set by Great Britain in 1996.

Stadium records were set by Great Britain’s Marlon Devonish in the 100 meters (10.28 seconds) and Marty Sauer of Cornerstone in the women’s pole vault (13 feet 1 1/2 inches).

At the UC San Diego Invitational baseball tournament:

Chapman 13, Cal Lutheran 3--Eric Albright had four runs batted in and three runs scored and Brandon Maceil had four hits and three runs for the Panthers (37-3) in the championship game. Albright also had four RBIs in an 11-6 victory over UC San Diego.

In Big West Conference softball:

Cal State Fullerton 7, Utah State 6--Monica Lucatero had three RBIs for Fullerton (31-24, 10-8).
