Lanes to Stay Closed Through Early July

Lane closures due to the Victoria Avenue interchange project will continue through early July in Ventura, officials said.
The number of lanes in each direction at the Ventura Freeway overpass will be reduced from three to two through early July, said project engineer Bob Stein. The closure began last week so the foundation of the overpass could be completed.
All freeway onramps will remain open at Victoria Avenue, but northbound traffic will not be allowed to turn left onto the onramp.
Instead, project engineers are recommending the following alternate routes:
From northbound Victoria Avenue, take Olivas Park Drive west to Telephone Road north to the Main Street onramp.
From southbound Victoria Avenue, take Telephone Road west to the Main Street onramp.
The Victoria Avenue interchange project began in April 1998 to accommodate more traffic. The $12.5-million project includes two new bridges, widening of Victoria Avenue and Valentine Road, and new southbound on- and offramps.
Stein said the project was scheduled for completion in November, but a December finish is more likely.
