GFI Energy Completes Cherokee Investment

GFI Energy Ventures LLC said Tuesday that it had completed a “substantial investment” in Tustin-based Cherokee International. GFI, a Los Angeles investment firm, is part of a group that now holds a majority interest in Cherokee, whose founding executives will continue to manage the company.
Cherokee designs and makes power supply products for the telecommunications and electronic equipment industries. In addition to GFI, other investors in the deal include Oaktree Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based investment firm, and RIT Capital Partners Plc, a publicly traded, London-based investment company.
