Sensible Munchables

Most cold cereals target kids, but Country Inn Specialties are quite grown up. They were developed in partnership with regional inns. The one from Green Gables Inn in Monterey Bay is toasted oats, miniature palmier pastries, raisins and dried apples and cranberries. From Georgia there’s wheat and rice flakes with honey, pecan pralines and cranberries, and the New England model is corn flakes with a strong maple flavor. They’re all quite tasty and make a great snack, a la granola but far lower in fat.

One Basket Fits All
This new flexible grilling basket makes it easy to grill thick and thin items at the same time--say, filet mignon along with asparagus spears or a whole fish along with green onions. The nonstick steel mesh basket is dishwasher safe, although the redwood handle should be removed before putting it in the dishwasher.
Flexible grill basket, $24, from Williams-Sonoma stores.
