Palisades Keeps Rolling

Top-seeded Palisades won its fifth consecutive City Section boys’ championship Thursday, defeating third-seeded Granada Hills, 20 1/2-9, at Meridian’s Tennis L.A.
The Dolphins won their 24th title and tied their section record for consecutive championships set from 1969-73.
Palisades (14-2) won 13 of 16 singles sets and five of the nine doubles sets against Granada Hills (17-5).
Playing despite a sprained right ankle, Palisades’ Artin Tafazoli swept at No. 1 singles, ending his senior season undefeated. Tafazoli who was injured during practice Wednesday night, defeated Lee Weinstein, 6-1; Erio Weiss, 6-0; Vlad Kinevsky, 6-0, and Yury Tsirulsky, 6-0.
Palisades’ Ricky Rollins swept at No. 2 singles, defeating Weinstein, 6-3; Weiss, 6-0; Kinevsky, 6-1, and Tsirulsky, 6-0.
In doubles, the Dolphins’ No. 1 team of Blake Baumgarten and Peter Shirley swept, defeating Anand Murthy and Dan Lim, 6-2; Brad Steinberg and Brian Mintz, 6-1, and Kris Palyon and Dustin Sorotsky, 6-2.
In the Division bracket final, Hamilton (11-5) defeated Van Nuys (11-6), 18-11 1/2.
