SCC Will Host NAIA Regional Softball Games

Southern California College’s softball team, which won the Golden State Athletic Conference, will host the NAIA Farwest Regional tournament beginning Thursday. SCC (42-10) finished the regular season ranked fifth in the nation.
Top-seeded SCC plays fourth-seeded Menlo at 9 a.m. and second-seeded Point Loma Nazarene plays third-seeded Azusa Pacific at 11 a.m. Thursday. The winner of the regional advances to the NAIA National tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Seven SCC players earned all-conference honors and Coach Beth Renkoski was named conference coach of the year.
Senior outfielder Chrissy Vega was named player of the year and senior Gretchen Brandt was named co-pitcher of the year. Other players earning all-conference honors included Michelle Murie, Alicia Groshon, Noelle Sturgill, Valerie Vanaken and Gina Liebengood. Sturgill also earned GSAC All-Academic team honors.
