C&D; Technologies Inc. said Tuesday that it will shutter its Costa Mesa power supply production facility and lay off 60 workers as part of a restructuring that will cost the company $1.6 million.
The Blue Bell, Pa.-based producer of electrical power storage and conversion products said it will transfer its California production activities to its plants in Tucson, Ariz., and Nogales, Mexico.
The company said its Costa Mesa facility, where workers assembled electronic equipment by hand, had higher costs than its other plants, where the same work was done by machine.
The plant is expected to close by July.
