Computer Sciences Contract

Computer Sciences Corp. won a $1.2-billion 10-year contract to manage computer and manufacturing systems for United Technologies Corp.’s Pratt & Whitney jet engine unit. About 650 Pratt & Whitney employees at the engine maker’s headquarters in East Hartford, Conn., and a plant in West Palm Beach, Fla., will transfer to Computer Sciences under the agreement. El Segundo-based Computer Sciences will run Pratt & Whitney’s 20,000 desktop computers worldwide, as well as its large servers and telecommunications and data systems. The agreement caps a string of wins for CSC in the last few months, including contracts with the U.S. General Services Administration and Internal Revenue Service and with Enron Corp.Separately, Computer Sciences agreed to acquire a majority stake in Servo Data, an Austrian technology consulting firm with about 300 employees and $32 million in annual sales. Computer Sciences shares rose $1.31 to close at $59.81 on the New York Stock Exchange.
