A tanker truck slammed into the back of a military vehicle Thursday, injuring seven Marines returning from a training exercise. Four Marines were hospitalized and three others were treated at the scene of the 9:30 a.m. crash on Interstate 8 near Jacumba, about 75 miles southeast of San Diego, said Lt. Jeff Landis, a spokesman for Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. None of the Marines had life-threatening injuries, Landis said. The Marines were part of a 10-vehicle convoy returning from an exercise in El Centro in preparation for deployment to the Middle East next month, the spokesman said.
