Wet Concrete Messes Up Toll Road Traffic
South County commuters found themselves stuck in traffic Friday--really stuck.
A concrete-mixer truck overturned on the Foothill Toll Road, shutting southbound lanes for nearly four hours and creating a rush-hour nightmare.
The 3 p.m. accident near Santa Margarita Parkway forced officials to declare a SigAlert 15 minutes later. The unusually long alert was not canceled until 6:45 p.m.
The accident spilled wet concrete onto the highway, requiring a lengthy cleanup, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
“We had to have a sweeper go out and take care of it,” he said.
