A Calabasas teenager died Saturday of injuries from a three-car accident on Mureau Road.
The Toyota Corolla driven by Paul Gooderis, 17, was heading east on Mureau, near Round Meadow Road, about 10:20 p.m. Friday, officials said. The vehicle crossed the dividing line on a blind curve of the two-lane highway while the driver was attempting to pass several cars, said Karen Faciane, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
The Toyota crashed head-on into a Jaguar XJS traveling west, and then became airborne and careened off the top of a Honda Civic, traveling east. The Toyota came to rest on its wheels in the eastbound lane.
Gooderis was flown by the Los Angeles County Fire Air Squad to UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:37 a.m. Saturday.
The Northridge man driving the Jaguar was moderately injured and taken to West Hills Hospital and Medical Center. His condition was not available Saturday.
“The 18-year-old West Hills man [driving the Civic] was wearing a seat belt, and he’s just fine; no injuries,” Faciane said.
