SHERMAN OAKS — A man who was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer after his car stopped on the Ventura Freeway was identified by authorities Sunday.
Michael Luchin Yang, 20, was killed early Saturday after unsuccessfully trying to flag down help, said Robert Fierro, an investigator with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The Rowland Heights man left his car at the center divider and ran across the freeway to the right shoulder, just east of Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks, to get help. Yang was running back to his car when the truck struck him around 3:20 a.m. The truck driver was not cited.
