Paint Rules

* Re “AQMD Adopts Tough New Rules for a Variety of Paints,” May 15: I had my house painted after the 1994 earthquake with what I thought was a premium paint. After three years the paint had yellowed and stained. I had the house repainted in the fourth year.
Now I read that paints will be further weakened. As a result of the 1998 elections the environmentalists think that they have a clear field and have pulled out all stops. They have gone too far; even the courts are saying stop. It’s time for Congress to get involved and sort out this madness.
