Caltrans is scheduled to shut down the Meats Avenue overpass on the Costa Mesa Freeway during the week of June 14. The overpass will probably remain closed until September 2000, Caltrans officials said. Residents should take Tustin Avenue or Santiago Boulevard south to Taft Avenue during the construction. Crews will lengthen the bridge by 64 feet and add lanes to improve traffic flow. The $2.2-million project also includes widening the bridge enough to add additional lanes.
