Rockies’ Abbott Put on DL

The Colorado Rockies placed infielder Kurt Abbott on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin and transferred pitcher Kevin Ritz from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. Pitcher David Wainhouse was designated for assignment. The Rockies purchased the contracts of infielders Chris Petersen and J.R. Phillips from triple-A Colorado Springs.
