Biolase Technology Reports Loss, but Sales Bounce From Last Year

Biolase Technology Inc., San Clemente maker of dental, cosmetic and surgical products, posted a first-quarter net loss of $669,856, or 4 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $829,111, or 6 cents a share, for the 1998 first quarter. Sales rose to $1.8 million from $262,530.
The company attributed stronger sales to increased marketing efforts, demand for its Millennium Hydrokinetic dental laser and its expanded sales force.
The company increased the price of its dental laser Feb. 21, responding to strong demand.
The company’s stock closed Monday at $2.19, down 6 cents a share.
