Fire Chief William Simpkins will speak to the community one last time Thursday at the senior center; he plans to retire Aug. 6. Simpkins, who has fought fires for more than 30 years, will talk about how to be safe at home. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the senior center, 500 S. Sievers Ave.
