Rangers’ Power Shows Up Early

ARLINGTON, Texas — Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan Rodriguez hit consecutive homers in a five-run first inning as the Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins, 6-4, Friday night.

Texas won its fourth in a row, matching its longest winning streak of the season. The Rangers have taken six in a row from the Twins.

Minnesota opened a six-game trip with its third consecutive defeat.

The Rangers also hit three homers in a row in their previous home game, May 19 against Bay. The only other time Texas had accomplished the feat in team history was in 1998.

Given a big lead, Aaron Sele (4-4) improved to 11-2 lifetime against the Twins. He allowed four runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, ending his three-game losing streak.

John Wetteland pitched the ninth for his 15th save.
