With the belief that knowledge is power, city officials recommended the City Council spend its remaining anti-El Toro airport money on newsletters and consultants.
The council, which allocated $735,000 of its 1999-2000 budget to fight the proposed commercial airport at the closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, will vote tonight on whether to spend the $125,000 left over on educating its residents about the airport, according to a report prepared by the city.
If the measure is approved, the city would mail out three El Toro-related newsletters timed to coincide with important airport events, according to the report.
The City Council will meet at 7 p.m. tonight in chambers, 27841 La Paz Road.
