Donna Karan International Inc. said it plans to cut 175 jobs, or 8% of its work force, by combining its Donna Karan New York and DKNY women’s divisions and closing eight outlet stores to reduce costs. The apparel company will take an $11-million charge as a result of the moves, which it expects to shave costs by $6 million a year. The New York-based company, which will report third-quarter earnings next week, is on track to meet forecasts, said Chairman and Chief Executive John Idol. The company also said Susan Sokol, president of Donna Karan New York Women’s Collection, has resigned. Donna Karan closed up 6 cents at $8.88 on the NYSE.
