Gamst Leads Los Alamitos to Victory

Senior setter Stephanie Gamst had 37 assists, five kills and two blocks to lead Los Alamitos to a 13-15, 15-6, 9-15, 15-11, 15-7 victory over Dana Hills in a Southern Section Division I-AA girls’ volleyball wild-card match Monday at Los Alamitos.
The Griffins (17-8), who were making their first playoff appearance in seven years, travel to Newport Harbor today for a first-round match against the top-seeded Sailors.
Los Alamitos was led at the net by Jaclyn Owen, who had 16 kills, Drue Wawrzynski with 13 and Valerie Harris with 10. Owen, Wawrzynski and Harris also had three aces each.
April Nick had 18 kills and Meagan Bergquist had 13 for Dana Hills (8-10).
Long Beach Millikan 3, Santa Ana 0--The Saints’s season ended at Millikan with a 15-2, 15-3, 15-5 loss.
Two matches changed to today--Two Division II-AA wild-card matches, Brea Olinda at Norco and Los Amigos at El Modena, were moved to today.
