Chamber to Move to Former Library

The Camarillo Chamber of Commerce plans to move into the city’s former library at Dizdar Park.
The move is scheduled for this winter or early spring, said Lin Holzinger, chamber executive director. A fund-raiser is being planned to pay the estimated $125,000 needed for the move and renovation of the old library building, chamber officials said.
Holzinger said the district and chamber have agreed to a long-term lease for the property at 20 S. Glenn Ave. In lieu of rent, the chamber has agreed to pay for renovations and maintenance.
Holzinger and Tony Trembley, chamber president, agree the chamber has outgrown its office in the Las Posas Plaza.
“This larger location will help the chamber offer new and improved services to members, help attract visitors to Old Town and better reflect Camarillo’s ability to serve those relocating to our town,” Trembley said.
After consulting architects and construction organizations, officials estimated the tab for the project would be $125,000, Holzinger said.
The fund-raising campaign begins Nov. 17 with a reception for chamber members and other prospective supporters. Proceeds from the campaign, which is expected to last four months, will cover the cost of renovating the building that served as Camarillo’s library for 12 years until the early 1970s.
The building is to have a Spanish facade and will display progress reports of the redevelopment of Ventura Boulevard from Lewis Road to Carmen Drive, Holzinger said.
