ARLETA — The body of a woman was found by firefighters Monday after they put out a fire at a two-story condominium, authorities said.
The name of the woman, who was 63 years old, was not released.
“When firefighters arrived, someone outside the building said there was one person who lived there who had not come out,” said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. The fire in the 7900 block of Woodman Avenue was put out quickly.
“The firefighters went in and found the body,” Wells said.
The cost of damage to the building was estimated at $20,000 by fire officials.
“It was mostly smoke damage,” Wells said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
