Five people were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving over the weekend during a Police Department sobriety checkpoint.
In addition, one driver was arrested on suspicion of interfering with a police officer and another was cited for possession of marijuana, Sgt. Doris Weaver said.
In four hours Saturday night, officers stopped 783 of the more than 1,000 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint in the southbound lanes of the 32000 block of South Coast Highway, she said.
