Organizers of the city’s 35th annual Heritage Days and Festival Parade have named Grover, a popular Sesame Street character, to be the grand marshal of this year’s festivities.
The furry blue Muppet will help celebrate the heritage of the city and the festival’s theme, “Education for a New Century . . . A Lifetime of Learning.”
“The theme highlights education and its importance in the community for the next century,” publicity coordinator Jennifer Kreiss said.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of Kraemer and Madison avenues, heads west on Madison to Bradford Avenue, where it turns south to Kraemer Park. Daylong activities planned at the park include a car show, live entertainment, contests and more. Information: (714) 993-8232.
