Pacifica, Football
Kemp, a tailback, ran for 234 yards and three touchdowns in Pacifica’s 28-14 victory over Santiago last week. His 13-yard touchdown run in the final minutes clinched the victory for Pacifica. He scored on runs of 13 and one yard earlier in Thursday’s game. Santiago went into the season as the favorite to win the Garden Grove League championship.

Marina, Football
Mietkiewicz, a fullback, ran for 253 yards in 16 carries in Marina’s victory against Westminster.

Josh Hewko
San Clemente, Water Polo
Hewko’s two steals and four goals, including the winner, helped the Tritons upset No. 2 Foothill last week.

Liz Morse
Corona del Mar, Cross-country
Morse, a senior, won the Division IV varsity race at the Stanford Invitational Saturday, leading Corona del Mar
to the team title.
Morse was 20 yards behind Aliza Cohen of San Francisco University with 100 yards to go but out-kicked Cohen to win the race by one second. Morse’s winning time was 18 minutes 58 seconds on the three-mile course at Stanford.

Lee shot a two-under-par 34 at Oak Creek in a match against Woodbridge last week.

Natalie Braverman
Newport Harbor, Tennis
Improved record to 18-0, rallying from 5-5, 0-40 deficit to beat Palos Verdes Peninsula’s top seed last week.
