The City Council decided in closed session Thursday to challenge an action by an arbitration panel ruling on a contract between the city and the Anaheim Firefighters Assn.
The arbitration panel had ruled that it could grant retroactive pay to the firefighters, whose contract ended three years ago. The city authorized an appeal to the Orange County Superior Court.
Despite the potential lawsuit, the arbitration panel will continue the hearing Tuesday with the major topic being future wages for the firefighters.
