Medical-Billing Industry Legitimate

While I applaud the effort to alert people to the dangers of scam artists in the medical-billing industry [“A Pocketbook Health Hazard,” Oct. 8], The Times failed to acknowledge the fact that home-based medical billing is a legitimate business opportunity for many people around the country.
In fact, several business opportunity publications, including Entrepreneur magazine, have included medical billing in their lists of best home-based business opportunities.
There are a number of legitimate companies around the country, including ours, in which billing software is just one component of a business system designed to offer people a way of earning a full- or part-time income. These companies, like ours, do much more for people than sell them a cheap software package.
The medical-billing industry has helped a multitude of individuals attain financial independence along with an improved quality of life.
