Ventura resident Virginia M. Lindsay died Thursday at her home after a brief illness. She was 82.
Lindsay was born Jan. 13, 1917, in Dugger, Ind., and was a 60-year county resident. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Ventura City Councilman Gordon Lindsay, who served on the council in the 1960s.
Lindsay was a charter member of the Ojai Valley Community Church, where she was the organist for 17 years.
She enjoyed church activities and ballroom dancing, and was a collector of hats.
Lindsay is survived by her son, Tom Lindsay of Santa Paula, and her daughter, Jerry Lee of Ojai; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ojai Valley Community Church with Pastor Paul Bergmann officiating. Entombment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ojai Valley Community Church, Youth Department, 907 El Centro St., Ojai 93923. This was a ministry that Lindsay and her husband supported for many years.
Arrangements are being handled by Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
