The City Council will vote tonight on whether to order construction plans for the restrooms at the community-built playground at Box Canyon Park. The plans would cost the city about $7,900. If the council approves the item, construction on the restrooms could begin within three months, said Parks and Recreation Director Steve Rudometkin.
The council set aside $80,000 in the city’s 1999-2000 budget for the restrooms, just one of the many improvements still needed at Box Canyon Park, Rudometkin said.
Visitors to the playground, which is complete with everything from a treehouse to slides, have been using a portable toilet, which was always meant to be temporary. The electric lines and water systems are already in place for the new restrooms.
