Junior Marcus Raines of Littlerock hardly looks like a guy who never played linebacker before this season.
Raines, 6-1 and 195 pounds, is on pace to break the school record of 149 tackles set last season by Adam Fabela.
He has 103 tackles, including 23 last week against Quartz Hill and 20 two weeks ago against Capistrano Valley.
Raines was a regular at fullback last season.
“That’s pretty incredible,” Coach Jim Bauer said of Raines’ rapid progress. “I guess he’s learned to play linebacker pretty quick.”

In five nonleague games, L.A. Baptist yielded 73 points. That number more than doubled last week in the Knights’ 76-32 Alpha League loss to Kilpatrick.
