John Barbaro of Crescenta Valley has replayed the kick in his mind countless times.
With time running out against Muir last season, Barbaro was positioned for a game-winning 24-yard field goal against longtime nemesis Muir.
The kick was low, however, and a defender got a hand on it to preserve a 15-14 victory for the Mustangs.
He might get another chance tonight, when Crescenta Valley plays Muir at Glendale High in a key Pacific League game.
“After last year, I said to myself that it was never going to happen again,” Barbaro said of the blocked kick.
“I’ve been waiting for this game for a year.”
