Re “Peace and Quiet,” Ventura County letters, Oct. 6.

I echo the concerns about noisy, disruptive boat races expressed in this letter.

It seems the only way we humans learn (as a group) to take care of the things and nonhuman beings with which we share the Earth is after we have obliterated them and found out too late that our good health and welfare depended on their existence.
