Two Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies were recognized for their hard work and community policing efforts when the Orange County Human Relations Commission handed out its annual Community-Oriented Policing Award.
Deputies Russ Chilton and Ron Kennedy, who have each worked in Dana Point for more than 11 years, were nominated by Paul Ratchford--chief of police services for Dana Point--for their efforts with the city’s Community Support Unit, which works to strengthen ties between the community and Sheriff’s Department. “We’re so proud of them winning this because the competition was unbelievable,” Ratchford said.
