Re “Cable Firms’ Gifts for 2000 Festivities Raise Questions,” Oct. 24: I am greatly relieved to learn that Adelphia Cable’s $1-million contribution will be used for libraries and not to buy political influence. Now I’ll be able to read a book, instead of watching cable TV.
