Hoping to capitalize on Orange County’s budding high-tech image, City National Bank has decked out its new Irvine branch in a space-age motif, characterized by the branch manager as “Banking Meets ‘Star Wars.’ ”
Among the unusual features are a check-writing stand designed to resemble an android (which is a robot designed to resemble a person), futuristic furnishings, ceilings carved with geometric shapes and work spaces defined by intersecting silver-lacquered fins.
The bank hopes the design will appeal to the high-tech businesses expected to use the branch, which is in Irvine Spectrum.
