Risky Sex and AIDS

* In response to “S.F. Reports Upsurge in Risky Sex by Gay Men,” Sept. 6: Maybe I have been wrong. I firmly believed in the ability of mature adults to live their lives without government interceding. Now, after untold amounts of public and private funds spent on AIDS research and drugs (at the expense, I feel, of discovering the unknown causes of cancer), members of the gay population deem unprotected sex combined with drug therapy the way to go. What a fiasco! Should the government now oversee their sexual habits? They just don’t get it, and neither do I.
