Construction of a pedestrian underpass beneath the Ridge Route Drive railroad crossing is almost complete, contractors said. Crews have finished building the tunnel, but are still working on sidewalks, fences and lighting in the area. The tunnel will allow people to cross under the tracks without having to walk through adjacent vehicle tunnels, which had raised safety concerns among nearby residents.
