About 100 Villa Park and Orange residents attended the Serrano Water District meeting Wednesday to protest the proposed sale of Barham Ranch to developer SunCal. Residents also turned in a petition against the sale signed by 1,000 people, including almost 600 from the water district’s constituents, Orange Park Acres spokesman Roger Faubel said. The water district is suing the Orange Unified School District to force it to sell the 526-acre Barham Ranch site, which they co-own, to SunCal. The water district is being sued by several nonprofit preservation groups that do not want the land sold.
