Wal-Mart Offering PC Services at Some Stores

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it’s leasing space in 10 U.S. stores to closely held Computer Doctor to test the offering of computer services. Computer Doctor will sell used computers in addition to installing software and upgrading and repairing PCs. Its stores will be at the front of Wal-Mart’s superstores, which are about twice the size of its discount stores. The first site opened last week in Ankeny, Iowa. All 10 test sites may be open sometime next year, a Computer Doctor executive said. Computer Doctor, based in Aberdeen, S.D., has 38 stores. Shares of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart closed down 44 cents at $46.19 on the NYSE.
