A local nonprofit organization collected food Monday to distribute to needy families, just days before it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Saddleback Community Outreach--which offers job-training programs, temporary housing and a food pantry--gathered food donated by people attending Yom Kippur services at South County Jewish temples.
“They are following the Jewish tradition of sharing their gifts of God with needy people,” said John Rooney, the group’s executive director.
