To protect the community’s peace and quiet, the city will soon launch a yearlong effort to update its noise ordinance and zoning code.
The City Council tonight will consider hiring a consultant to identify and suggest corrections to outdated and inconsistent sections of the city code.
The noise ordinance, a part of the city’s zoning code, regulates proposed land uses based on how much noise is appropriate in the area. The ordinance was written about 28 years ago and has undergone changes since then.
If the City Council approves the contract with the consultant tonight, the project would begin in October. The revision is expected to cost the city $105,600.
