CAMARILLO — Two Oxnard residents were injured Monday afternoon when a driver lost control of his vehicle on Pleasant Valley Road near Lewis Road and caused a five-car collision, sheriff’s officials said.
Jesus Rodriguez, 20, of Oxnard was driving westbound and exceeding the speed limit when his Pontiac Sunbird hit the railroad tracks at 5th Street and the vehicle became airborne, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Meyers said.
The car landed on its side and slammed into the rear of another westbound car, which slid across Pleasant Valley into the eastbound lanes and struck three vehicles.
One of those vehicles was carrying Maria Panada and Jose Lima of Oxnard, who received minor injuries and were taken to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. They were treated and released, Meyers said.
Rodriguez suffered cuts to his tongue and face, but refused treatment at the scene.
Rodriguez, who was ticketed for speeding, was not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, officials said.
