Goodwill Opening New Training Center

Goodwill Industries said it will open a new Deaf Employment and Community Center at 6850 Van Nuys Blvd. in Van Nuys on Wednesday to provide office applications training, general employment skills and job placement. Free workshops on the Americans with Disabilities Act and tax incentives will be offered to businesses interested in hiring those with disabilities.
Founded in 1919, Goodwill is a nonsectarian, nonprofit agency, 90% funded through its retail stores and industrial services contracts.
The company’s mission is to help those with vocational disadvantages gain education, training and employment.
