Sheriff’s deputies arrested two suspects in an Aliso Viejo bank robbery after tracing the pair to a Lake Forest motel Wednesday.
Deputies said two men entered California Federal Bank on La Paz Road with handguns about 4 p.m. and escaped with about $25,000. Witnesses said a third suspect drove a getaway car.
During a search of the area, a motel manager told deputies that two people matching the suspects’ descriptions had recently checked in and paid for their room in cash.
An unidentified woman riding in a taxi near the motel was detained. The taxi driver told deputies he had just dropped off a man matching another suspect’s description at a shopping center on Lake Forest Drive. The man was found hiding in a fast-food restaurant.
A third man is still at large, and the money has not been recovered, deputies said.
