BOULDER, Colo. — The grand jury investigating the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey returned to work Thursday for the first time in four months, facing a deadline only a month away for completion of its task.
JonBenet was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her parents’ home Dec. 26, 1996. Police said the 6-year-old beauty queen’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, are under an “umbrella of suspicion.” The Ramseys have maintained their innocence.
Dist. Atty. Alex Hunter turned to the grand jury after the case bogged down over accusations that police had bungled the investigation.
