Sonora 31, Anaheim 14--Nick Ross threw two touchdown passes to Josh Gonzalez to lead Sonora (1-2). David Mayfield’s 75-yard run off left tackle gave the Raiders a 28-14 lead with 9:01 left to play. Mayfield finished with 116 yards in 14 carries.

Mayfield’s run answered Ryan Paterson’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Oscar Mateo, which cut Sonora’s lead to 21-14, with 9:22 left to play.

Ross started the scoring, by running for a 43-yard touchdown with 3:31 to play in the first quarter.

However, the Colonists (0-3) evened the score by making a big play on defense. Sergio Martinez recovered a fumble by Mayfield and returned it 60 yards for an Anaheim touchdown with 4:07 left in half.

With 28 seconds left in the half, Ross threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Gonzalez which capped 57-yard drive and gave the Raiders a 14-7 lead. On Sonora’s first possession of the second half, Ross found Gonzalez for a 24-yard touchdown.
