Bloomington 52, Palmdale 46--Quarterback Jason Sumrel threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Adams with 11 seconds remaining to lift the Bruins at Palmdale.
The scoring strike capped a nine-play, 63-yard desperation drive, which was kept alive by Adams, who ran for a 10-yard gain on fourth and seven.
Adams, who led all rushers with 166 yards in 20 carries, scored on an eight-yard run midway through the second quarter.
The loss overshadowed a stellar performance by Palmdale’s Terry Furlow, who threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns. The junior completed 12 of 25 passes, but his final pass fell incomplete with 1:13 left with the Falcons leading, 46-44.
Palmdale went ahead, 16-8, when Anthony Diggs stripped Adams of the ball and returned it 25 yards for a score late in the first quarter. Diggs’ eight-yard touchdown run gave Palmdale (0-3) a 38-22 lead at halftime.
Furlow, who also scored on a 31-yard run in the second quarter, teamed with wide receiver Travis Morse on scoring passes of 56, 33, and 35 yards. Palmdale led, 46-28, with 9:35 left to play.
Morse caught five passes for 157 yards.
