Carpinteria 7, Santa Paula 0--Chad Metelak completed seven of 14 passes for 156 yards, but the Cardinals (2-1) couldn’t capitalize on six Carpinteria turnovers at Santa Paula.
Mike Nava had three receptions for 68 yards for Santa Paula, including catches of 21 and 35 yards.
Santa Paula drove to the Carpinteria 13-yard line late in the first quarter but turned the ball over on downs.
Carpinteria (3-0) scored the game’s only touchdown with 5:18 left in the second quarter when backup quarterback Aaron Crouse hit Scott Lopez with a 12-yard pass.
